BELT GRINDERS
I built my first belt grinder in 2008 using the NWG (No Weld Grinder) plans from www.usaknifemaker.com.  This grinder is based on the KMG grinder (Knife Maker’s Grinder).  Once I saw how well the grinder worked I began conducting workshops to build the grinders and building the grinders for sale. After several modifications I now have designed a direct drive grinder with a 1.5 or 2 hp TEFC (totally enclosed fan cooled) motor and VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) with a NEMA 4X enclosure (dust proof and water tight) to enable the user to adjust the rpm of the motor from 0 rpm to 3600 rpm.  The frame is built all of solid stock and is solidly welded together.  The tool arm has a rotating feature with a  2″ and 8″ contact wheel, flat platen and slack belt areas.  This grinder can also be configured to be used with the belt moving either a vertical or horizontal direction.  The only thing required to be supplied by the purchaser is plywood for the base, the bar stock and angle iron, some time and simple hand tools. You can probably build the frame from your scrap pile.

Kits are being offered by Raymond Head. He can be contacted at e.m.forge@gmail.com  or  (334) 399-5877.

You will need the VFD, motor and a wiring kit, all of which I can supply. You can check on these items on other pages of this website.

DVD
I am offering a DVD  so that you can build your own grinder and save a lot of money.  This is a very simple and easy grinder to build.  If you can just make a few cuts in metal, drill holes, tap a few holes and do a few short welds (or can outsource the welding) you can build this grinder.

The DVD is now available for $45.00

The DVD has about 90 minutes of video, where I assemble the frame, with  PDF printable pages showing all materials (with dimensions) needed to build a Moe’s Grinder and a complete cut list.  I believe that this is a new concept for instructing purchasers on the complete construction of the grinder.

Payment for the DVD can be made by PayPal to waynecoe@highland.net or by mailing a check or money order to:

Even if you decide that another grinder better suits your needs, I can supply you with the motor, VFD, wiring and a bracket that you will need to finish your grinder. See my Motors and VFD’s Page for further information.

Disk Grinders

I also offer direct drive disk grinders with a 1 hp TEFC (totally enclosed fan cooled) motor and VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) with a NEMA 4X enclosure (dust proof and water tight)  to enable the user to adjust the rpm of the motor from 0 rpm to 3600 rpm.  Disks and disk systems can be purchased from numerous sources as long as they have a 5/8″ shaft.

The VFD has a forward/reverse switch which is needed when grinding knives.  This grinder comes in 3 boxes with complete instructions for the assembly including wiring instructions.  This grinder can also be configured to be used with the disk moving both in a vertical or horizontal direction.  The only thing required to be supplied by the purchaser is the disk system, plywood for the base, some time and simple hand tools.

I have recently acquired a large supply of nine inch sanding/grinding disks suitable for use with the Nielsen Interchangeable Disk system.  Most are Kingspor and are either AO or Black SC disks.  The price is $2.00 per disk.  The disks that I have are in the following grits.

150, 240, 280, 360, 400, and 500.

NEW PRODUCT 3M Feathering Disk Adhesive Type II

I have a limited supply of the 3MFeathering Disk Adhesive Type II in 5 fl oz tubes that I am offering for $17.00 per tube, plus shipping.
I can get two of these in a USPS small flat rate box or 4 if I take them out of their boxes. That would make S&H $10.00.

This is a low tack adhesive designed for adhering abrasive disks to disk grinders. The abrasive disk can be taken off and a new disk installed, then, later, the old disk reinstalled. A real convenience and money saver.

Please note that all sales are FOB the shipper. If you want your shipment insured be sure and ask that it be added to the shipping costs.
